Sample Letter to the Editor for Water

California faces a water crisis that threatens our economy now and in the future. Proposition 98 on the June 3 ballot would only deepen this crisis. Either intentionally or through negligence, Prop. 98 includes flawed language that could prohibit the acquisition of land or water needed to develop public water projects. These are water projects we desperately need to provide safe, quality drinking water for California’s ever-growing population.

The Association of California Water Agencies warns Prop. 98 “could derail needed groundwater and surface water storage projects around the state” and calls this flaw in the measure “cause for alarm.” The Western Growers Association, who represents farmers and growers throughout California, also opposes Prop. 98 based on this dangerous provision.

Our state’s continued economic growth depends on developing new supplies of clean, safe drinking water. Prop. 98 jeopardizes that goal.
